Viet Nam to welcome the 6 millionth visitorHA NOI – Viet Nam expects to welcome its six millionth international visitor for the year, marking a successful year for the country’s tourism sector, the National Administration of Tourism said. In the first 11 months of the year, the sector saw a year-on-year increase of 17.8 per cent in the number of international visitors, meeting the target set for the full year of 5.4 million. Numerous tourism programmes were drawcards, including Carnival Week in Ha Long Bay; an International Fireworks Competition in Da Nang City; Marine Week in Nha Trang City; various activities of the National Tourism Year in southern coastal provinces. China remains the largest market for Vietnamese tourism with 1.2 million visitors, an increase of 49 per cent over the same period last year. – VNS |
