Nguyen Tien Hai, chief executive officer of the HCMC-based trading company, and his staff knew what was waiting for them along the path to the summit of Pinhatt Mountain nearly 2km above sea level. In the rainy season, the slippery rocks challenge even the most sure footed.
The Pinhatt summit is as not as high as the peak of Langbian Mountain also located in the Central Highlands province. Pinhatt’s slopes are really abrupt though, at 45o or more, causing inexperienced trekkers to gasp for air.
But the higher the company team climbed, the higher their spirit lifted when seeing more natural wonders. For instance, they could only glimpse part of Lam Dong’s picturesque Tuyen Lam Lake at the foot of the Pinhatt Mountain but they got a bird’s eye view of the lake and Truc Lam Zen Monastery from the top.
Short breaks during the trip give the trekkers time to recover their strength and take in beautiful landscapes. Trunks and branches of pines naturally form like photo frames through which they viewed mountains and forests far away and drifting clouds.
The rhythm of breezes and strong winds blowing through the pines takes the trekkers’ tiredness away, encouraging them to summon their strength. Once the staff from Kim Tin Co. reached the summit they burst into joyous laughter. It was the crowning moment in their team building excursion.
The top of Pinhatt is the best vantage point to see the legendary Langbian Mountain about 20 km to the north. From the crest, the islets on Tuyen Lam Lake look like flying birds or flowers, with the colors changing in the sunlight.
From the summit, Dalat appears dreamily draped in mist. Visitors will fully understand why Dalat is call a “City of Dreams” or “City of Love” when they see it from above.
